FBI helping in search for missing US citizen | Trinidad Express Newspaper | News: "THE Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) has been called in to assist a special team of officers from the Anti-Kidnapping Unit (AKU) who are probing the kidnapping and possible murder of a 17-year-old United States citizen.
Officials at the US Embassy in Port of Spain have confirmed that local cops are investigating the abduction and possible homicide of Shakeem Periera.
Periera was last seen alive on January 8, when he left his Jones Town, Arima, home, telling his mother, Shaniqua, that he was going to celebrate his 17th birthday at the Living Room nightclub in Arima.
During the early hours the following day, Shaniqua received a telephone call from another teenager she knew, who informed her that her son had been killed. 'You sleeping and yuh son dead,' the male voice told the woman.
Later in the day, an unidentified voice contacted Shaniqua and demanded a close male relative in exchange for the boy's safe release."
