Former Bell Police Officer Sentenced to Nine Years in Prison | Street Gangs Resource Center: "A judge sentenced a former officer with the Bell Police Department late yesterday to nine years in federal prison for sexually assaulting a female motorist and violating her civil rights, the Justice Department announced.
Feliciano Sanchez, 35 of Pico Rivera, received the sentence for the civil rights offense from U.S. District Judge Valerie Baker Fairbank.
During today’s hearing, Judge Fairbank said “the offense was serious, involving predatory conduct, [and was] committed by a police officer acting under color of law.”
Sanchez pleaded guilty last year to violating the female victim’s civil rights when he forced her to perform oral sex after stopping her for a traffic violation. Sanchez admitted in court that on May 16, 2007, he took the victim in his patrol car to an isolated parking lot away from the traffic stop. During the assault, Sanchez placed his hand on his duty weapon and forced the victim to perform the sex act."

East LA gang member gets into violent confrontation with Deputy | Street Gangs Resource Center: "An East Los Angeles trainee officer Mohamed Ahmed, 27, a Somalian immigrant was shot by an alleged gang member in City Terrace Tuesday night after 6:00 p.m. in East Los Angeles. After the two deputies pulled over a vehicle the suspect got into a physical altercation with the trainee deputy. According to Los Angeles County Sheriff, Lee Baca, the suspect pulled out a weapon and shot the deputy in the face. He attempted to shoot a 2nd deputy in the chest firing two shots but missing the second deputy. That deputy returned fired and shot and killed the suspect.
The suspect was recently released from prison and we believe him to be a member of the LOTT gang and we have identified him as Nestor “Husky / Demon” Torres from the LOTT. The shooting occurred near Floral Drive & Brannick which is an area claimed by the Lott."

Thomas “Taz” Benvie, 41, of Springvale, who forfeited a sawed-off shotgun, another shotgun and four handguns, was sentenced one week ago in federal court in Richmond, Va. on a single racketeering charge. Three other racketeering charges were dismissed.
Benvie was among 27 members of the Outlaw Motorcycle Association arrested nationwide following June indictments on racketeering and other charges.
Thomas “Tomcat” Mayne, 59, of Old Orchard Beach, described by authorities as the regional treasurer for the Outlaws, died June 15 following a shoot-out with federal agents who were attempting to arrest him as part of a seven-state sweep.
According to a sentencing report prepared by Assistant U.S. Attorney Peter S. Duffey, Benvie knew that others were committing racketeering acts, including the Oct. 8, 2009 attempted murder of Gary Watson, a member of the Hell’s Angels, in Canaan."

Sandra Avila Beltran was reputed to play a key public relations role for the Sinaloa cartel, headed by Joaquin 'El Chapo' Guzman, Mexico's most wanted drug trafficker. Avila Beltran is said to have worked on various shipments of cocaine from Colombia to Mexico. She was arrested outside a restaurant in the San Jeronimo neighborhood of Mexico City in September 2007.
